Note to Instructors
by E. Wampuszyc

This summary of cases is intended to help students synthesize the application of cases in elementary Polish. Instructors can also use this as a guide to teaching cases as well as a check list of case topics that should be completed in the elementary Polish classroom. Communicative exercises can be developed around each of the separate grammar points provided in this outline.

As you complete a case, refer your students to the appropriate pages on this web-site.

A few words about the summary of cases:

  • Most examples use the singular form of nouns.
  • The vocabulary and grammar in each summary becomes progressively more advanced, based on the assumption that by the time a student is learning the locative case, his/her vocabulary and grammar knowledge has grown significantly since the start of the year .
  • In the index to the summary of cases, cases are listed in the order we teach them at the University of Michigan.
