RESEARCH   INTERESTS:

Dr. Maiorova will join the Department in September 2001 as Assistant Professor of 19th-century Russian literature. Dr. Maiorova is currently a Senior Research Fellow in the Institute of World Culture at the Russian Academy of Sciences and a Professor at Moscow State University. An accomplished scholar, her area of expertise is Russian literature of the second half of the 19th century; her extensive research on Nikolai Leskov, including editorship of two volumes of his writings, stands out. The author of some twenty scholarly articles, published in the most prestigious journals in Russia, she is pre-eminent among scholars of 19th-century Russian literature.  We look forward to welcoming her warmly to the Slavic community at the University of Michigan.
