Introduction to Czech Grammar Pages

Vítáme Vás na strankách české gramatiky!

These explanations were written by Dr. Zdenka Brodská to accompany her First- and Second-Year Czech courses. They will guide you through the basics of Czech grammar. Feel free to look for the grammar topics that interest you (see Contents by Topic).

Before you begin, you may want to read through Parts of a Word and Parts of Speech. These brief pages will familiarize you with some general terms and help you understand the explanations you're about to read. As you read through the pages, you'll come across other terms that are linked to the Glossary. (You could read the Glossary, too, but it may be more useful to wait until you see these terms in context.) You'll also find links that take you to related topics within the pages, and to Exercises where you can practice what you've learned.
