The Science Learning Center (SLC) is an interdisciplinary resource center sponsored by the College of Literature, Science and the Arts to support teaching and learning in the natural sciences at the University of Michigan. The natural science disciplines at U of M include astronomy, biology, chemistry, geology and physics.
Located in the atrium of the Chemistry Building on central campus (map to the SLC), the SLC is home to several areas of activity including computer labs, meeting alcoves, individual and group study space and a loan desk for reserve and research materials.
The SLC contributes to the improvement of student learning and involvement in the sciences at the undergraduate introductory level by offering:
- A site for faculty to introduce instructional technology in a supported space.
- A place where undergraduate students and graduate student instructors (GSIs) can come together for small group or one-on-one tutoring sessions.
- A meeting spot for students to form and work in formal and informal study groups.
- Professional staff members available to help students navigate the varied resources available.
