Graduate Student Instructorship
Graduate Student Instructorship (GSI) is a very significant pedagogical component
of graduate training in sociology. Being a GSI enables our graduate
students to acquire the pedagogical and communicative skills they
will need in their future careers. All of the incoming graduate
students in sociology have to acquire at least one academic year
of GSI experience. Our GSIs are unionized and represented by the
Graduate Employees Organization
(GEO) which is often led by sociology graduate students as well.
