My dissertation is about French Socialists who became fascist militants and Nazi collaborators during the German occupation. I'm particularly interested in the factional dynamics within the French Socialist Party and the mutation of antifascist discourse into its opposite. I conducted archival research in France in 2012, during which time I was enrolled at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales and affiliated with the Centre Européen de Sociologie et de Science Politique.
My broader interests include social theory, critical sociology, and Marxist sociology. In the past, I've written on the concept of capital in Marx and Bourdieu. I'm currently working on a co-authored project about the relationship between Durkheimian sociology and fascism, and another on Bourdieu's critical sociology.
In my spare time I agonize over the latest Chicago Bears defeat, and curse Derrick Rose's knees.
