  • About

"I am a PhD candidate in Public Policy and Sociology. I use
qualitative, comparative-historical methods to research how different
actors, values and forms of knowledge and expertise influence
decision-making around natural resources and the environment; how
those who feel excluded challenge these dynamics; and the effects. I
recently completed a project examining transnational contention over
seed patents and the implications for social action and political
change in Canada. Currently, for my dissertation, I am studying the
politics of (re)localizing food through a comparison of Detroit and
Cleveland. I am also working on a side project concerning the politics
of "first foods"--breast milk, formula, and infant nutrition."
