• About

  I am interested in studying attitudes and beliefs about the roles, rights, and responsibilities of women and men in East Africa. For short, I call those attitudes and beliefs "gender ideologies." In my research I plan to explore how gender ideologies affect the lives of East African women and their families. Furthermore, I intend to investigate how gender ideologies are changing, and the causes and consequences of those ongoing changes. As I begin my research, I am grappling with how to conceptualize and measure gender ideologies to adequately capture meaningful variation in an East African context.
