  I am a micro-sociologist:  I seek to understand how people navigate social networks at work.  What do people do (behavioral processes) to activate their networks?  What do people know and think (cognitive processes) about their relations?  Importantly, how do these cognitive and behavioral processes affect a person’s social position and the benefits that he or she receives from that social position?  My dissertation, “Skill in Interpersonal Networks,” investigates these questions using an innovative quantitative and qualitative dataset collected from an administrative department of a manufacturing company.  My work with co-authors focuses on a different topic, that of identity.  Similar to my dissertation work, my projects with co-authors combine both psychological and sociological approaches to understanding individuals.  I have an article published in "Accounting, Economics, and the Law" and chapters published in "Research Alive: Exploring Generative Moments in Doing Qualitative Research" and "Exploring Positive Identities and Organizations: Building a Theoretical and Research Foundation."
