  • About

I am a joint doctoral student in Social Work & Sociology.  My research focuses on the gap between expectations and lived experiences (in relationships, in parenting). I am also interested in exploring the juxtaposition of privilege and oppression when people of relative privilege endeavor to serve in marginalized communities, as I have done in New York City, Ft. Lauderdale, and Haiti.  I am a Michigan transplant who grew up in Japan and New York.  In my spare time, I enjoy gardening, cooking and playing piano.
