I took a course that transfers as INTERSS.

I took a non-U-M course that transfers as Interdepartmental Social Science credit: INTERSS 201X (or a similar variation). Can it count toward my sociology concentration?

If the course you took is appearing on your transcript or has already been evaluated by the U-M Credit Evaluators as INTERSS 201X (or a similar variation), send a current syllabus and course description to socadvisor@umich.edu. A Sociology faculty member (the undergraduate program director) will review the syllabus and make sure that the course material contains enough sociological concepts, perspectives, and readings to qualify fulfill elective concentration credit. If the faculty member determines that it does, then you can count the transfer course toward the concentration plan. Remember, a maximum of 15 transfer credits may be counted toward the concentration, subject to departmental approval. The College of LSA has more specific rules about the number of credit hours that may be transferred toward the bachelor’s degree. See the LSA Bulletin for details.
