Middle Eastern and North African Studies Departmental Information
The Center for Middle Eastern and North African Studies is a unit of the International Institute within the University of Michigan. The Middle East and North Africa together constitute a highly diverse cultural area within a world now undergoing rapid and large-scale change. In this context, the mission of the Center for Middle Eastern and North African Studies (CMENAS) is to enhance awareness of the peoples, cultures, and languages in this vitally important region of the world. The Center for Middle Eastern and North African Studies (CMENAS) is a nationally-recognized U.S. Department of Education supported National Resource Center and a constituent unit of the University of Michigan International Institute.
CMENAS offers an undergraduate concentration and a minor in Modern Middle Eastern and North African Studies. It also offers a general interdisciplinary Master of Arts program in Modern Middle Eastern and North African Studies.
