WORKSHOP -- JANUARY 16th, 2013 -- MLB 3308 1-2pm
All applicants interested in a Spanish-speaking internship for the summer of 2013 must attend the Spanish-Speaking Internship Workshop.
At this workshop, you will learn more about the process of applying, more about specific internship positions and what your next steps should be.
Students pay the program fee of $700 once they are accepted into the program, shortly after the interview (which will most likely be by phone). Then, students will be offered placements in accordance with their specific interests and selected location. Should Cultural Vistas fail to secure an internship for a student (which is unlikely), the program fee will be returned to the student.
Cultural Vistas has been able to offer to very generous stipends to many of their placed interns in the past, offering students up to $1,500 to help defray costs of travel, housing, and day-to-day living expenses. Stipends are not guaranteed. Students write an essay to apply for funds.
Cultural Vistas will help you set up housing before you leave. There are many options including home stay-where you live with a family, or student residences (shared or single rooms) and you may opt to have some meals included. Approximate costs are $150-$200/week.
All U-M students traveling abroad in a U-M-affiliated program are required to purchase HTH Heath Insurance which cost $1.10/day. You will also register your travel details and contact information through MCompass.
