Koç University Istanbul
Since 2009, University of Michigan students have lived and worked on the beautiful campus of Koç University, which is located one hour outside Istanbul. Students are welcomed into a department with the Business School there and help out in the offices, with research, translation, web work, promotional materials in English. Some students are assigned to a professor and help with class preparation and general research. This position is not paid, but free housing in very modern dormitories is offered and some meals are covered.
Bilkent University, Ankara
Students may select an internship in one of two categories at Bilkent, working as either office aids (research, translation, general office work) or as English teaching assistants.
Housing is offered free of charge and if you teach, you will receive a small stipend. Bilkent is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Turkey. It is located in the capital city of Ankara.
Ozyegin University, Istanbul
Each summer, Ozyegin University is the host to 3 University of Michigan students. However, students are not on the campus, they work at companies owned by this private university. Good business knowledge is desirable. Free housing is provided in downtown Istanbul in an apartment that the three interns share.
TOBB University, Ankara
Considered to be one of the most popular placements over the past two years, University of Michigan students work as English teaching assistants in this private university. Free housing is provided in modern dormitories.
A fairly large group of UM students are invited to work there at the same time. Summer 2012 saw 8 UM students there. Students receive a small stipend for teaching.
Sanbançi Corporation, Istanbul
Students are employed by Sabançi to work in one of their many subsidiary companies. Work will include preparing presentations, translating documents, analyzing data, data entry etc. Housing is provided free of charge.
