Study Abroad

Study abroad can be an important part of every undergraduate’s educational experience at the University of Michigan. The international exposure gained through study abroad adds a unique dimension to an undergraduate program. You will acquire important skills and experience that can enhance employment opportunities and augment further training in graduate and professional schools. Studying in another country need not cost much more than a term on campus in Ann Arbor nor entail extra time toward a degree. No matter what your concentration is or if you are preparing for medical, business, or law school, you can find a way to study abroad if you choose, and planning early is important.

As an LSA student, you have several options for studying abroad:

  • LSA programs through the Center for Global and Intercultural Study (CGIS), which includes the Office of International Programs (OIP) and the Global Intercultural Experience for Undergraduates (GIEU);
  • UM programs offered through academic units in LSA and other UM Schools and Colleges;
  • Non-UM programs (credit granted for these programs is transfer credit)

Below you will find links to resources to guide you through the process of finding the best program for you. Questions you have which are not answered by the information on the sites below may be directed to your general academic advisor in the Newnan LSA Academic Advising Center, 1255 Angell Hall [(734) 764-0332].
