    Lila comes to Sweetland from Stony Brook University, where she studied American literature while working in writing center administration. She has tutored writers in writing centers at Penn State University, the University of Delaware, Stony Brook University, and the SUNY College at Old Westbury. She has also served as the Assistant Director at the Stony Brook University Writing Center and as the outreach specialist at the Old Westbury Writing Center. Her present research involves religion in 1990s American literature and in literature written about the 9/11 attacks, and her work on the subject has appeared in The John Updike Review. At Sweetland, Lila directs the Peer Tutoring Program and chairs the Peer Tutoring Committee. She sees writing centers and the dedicated tutors who work in them as the most valuable resource at the university.

    Lila's Research Interests include: Twentieth- and twenty-first-century American literature, postmodernism, religion, 9/11, rhetoric and composition, writing centers
