    Sarah is a PhD Candidate in the Joint Program in English and Education, and is in her fourth year as a Graduate Student Research Assistant (GSRA) in Sweetland. Before coming to Michigan, she taught middle and high school English for four years in Texas and South Carolina. She is currently finishing her dissertation, which explores how rural Southern students negotiate the ideologies surrounding Southern American English as they transition from high school into college writing. In her spare time, Sarah enjoys local theatre as both a spectator and as a participant.
