Teaching Writing in the Disciplines
This course is a hands-on workshop for Graduate Student Instructors (GSIs) teaching and grading Upper-Level Writing Requirement courses that undergraduate students use to satisfy the Upper-Level Writing Requirement. This course is mandatory for GSIs working in these courses but may be elected with permission of the Sweetland Center for Writing by other GSIs interested in the course. The course materials include research articles on writing pedagogy, student papers, sample assignments, and samples of student/teacher interactions. Topics include Upper-Level Writing Requirement course standards, writing assignments design, English as a Second Language, responding to student writing, and conferencing with students.
Two sections of this course are offered every fall and winter term on Tuesday from 4-6pm and Wednesday 9-11am. Sessions begin during the third week of classes.
