Upper-Level Writing Research
Sweetland has begun an earnest investigation into the Upper-Level Writing Requirement, Writing across the Curriculum, and Writing in the Disciplines at U-M and more broadly.
In February 2010, Sweetland received a two-year $15,000 Whitaker I grant to undertake a comprehensive analysis and assessment of the Upper-Level Writing Requirement. Read more.
Funded by a grant from the Teagle and Spencer foundations, the experiment examines whether integrating "meta-cognitive" practices (i.e., reflective techniques) into the teaching of writing can improve students' understanding of disciplinary content in upper-level writing courses. Read more.
