As Sweetland Peer Tutors, we see writing as a recursive process that thrives through
continuous conversation. In face-to-face and online consultations, we strive to create a
respectful environment for effective one-to-one collaboration. Undergraduate writers of all confidence levels can visit our centers at any stage of their writing processes with texts of all kinds. We’re prepared to discuss academic papers, application essays, websites, visual arguments, poems, and everything beyond and between. Writers aren’t able to develop if tutors simply edit their texts, so we work together to understand assignments, analyze drafts, and discover approaches to revision. We encourage writers to prioritize global concerns like argumentation, and we also discuss resources and strategies for sentence-level work. Ultimately, we create a reflective space for developing our ideas, voices, and social identities.
