Applications will be accepted from any U.S. citizen who has been accepted into a doctoral program at any accredited institution. Applications will also be considered from any U.S. citizen who has applied to a doctoral program but has not yet been accepted, although acceptance into the BART program is contingent upon acceptance into the doctoral program. Admission is open to students working with any faculty member. (Eligibility has thus expanded beyond those institutions originally named in the grant.)
Students who are accepted into the BART program receive up to two years of support including a $30,000/year stipend, equipment and supply monies, support for travel to national conferences and two summer sessions at the UMBS. Universities are expected to cover tuition and fees for BART students.
If you have questions concerning the program or would like additional information, please contact the BART office at 888-647-0536 or bartumbs@umich.edu, or visit our website www.lsa.umich.edu/umbs/bart.
