Research Topics
My students and I are interested in how physiological mechanisms allow trees to survive and remain productive and competitive in different environments, and how physiological processes and canopy properties affect ecosystem CO2 and water vapor exchange with the atmosphere, especially in the face of environmental change. My research work contributes to initiatives directed at understanding the role of forests in the carbon cycle, and the responses of plants to elevated atmospheric CO2 concentrations.
