About Benita Murrel Benita oversees and coordinates special programs of the ELI instructional division, including the Visiting Scholars program, the ESL endorsement conference, Teacher Education practicum placement, summer English programs, a new student advisory board and other projects and initiatives. Prior to her appointment in ELI, she was a program coordinator and advisor for the University Unions Arts and Programs, Division of Student Affairs, University of Michigan for twelve years. She is originally from the Philippines and was on the faculty at the College of Human Kinetics, University of the Philippines before migrating to the US in 1992. She now resides in Ann Arbor township with her husband, David and son, Jaime and enjoys the serenity of country living.
