About Jeffrey Johnson Jeff Johnson is a Language Assessment Specialist, and he joined the English Language Institute’s Testing and Certification Division in 2001. He is the Program Manager for the Michigan English Assessment Battery (MELAB) and for the Test Publications unit. He is also the Chair of the Spaan Fellowship program, which supports research in second and foreign language assessment through annual cash rewards. Prior to coming to the UM Jeff taught university EFL courses in Japan. Jeff has several research interests which center around questions of validation of EFL assessment instruments, and he has presented his work at several international testing and language conferences.
