Physics Colloquium
TPCs with CCD Readout for Dark Matter, Double Beta Decay, and Neutron Measurements

Date: 11/11/2009; 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Location: 340 West Hall
Host Department: PHYSICS

Speaker: Steve Ahlen (Boston University)

Detailed Information

Gas based particle detectors continue to be the detectors of choice for many experiments in particle physics, nuclear physics and astrophysics, and also have many practical applications. I will describe recent work done in collaboration with Brandeis and MIT in developing time projection chambers with optical readout for particle physics experiments and for sensitive neutron detectors with applications to homeland security.
