Can I use my ECPE Certificate for university admissions?

While the ECPE is designed primarily for use in one's home country, in some cases it can be used for university admissions.

For schools in the United States and Canada, you can have a ECPE/MELAB score conversion and request that your Official MELAB Score Report be sent directly to the admissions office of the university you are applying to. NOTE: MELAB conversion of ECPE results will no longer be available after August 31, 2008.

Converted scores are valid for only two years from the date you took the ECPE. Some schools in the United Kingdom also accept the ECPE certificate without a score conversion.

In addition, the level of the ECPE is approximately the same as the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) or TOEFL scores ranging from 567 to 677 or TOEFL CBT 229 to 300.
