Spotlight on "Pre-Health Peer Advisors" (March 2005)
Abeba Berhane-May 2005, CSP Graduate,
Abeba will earn a Bachelor of Science in Cultural Anthropology. Abeba is as a Resident Advisor in Helen Newberry Hall. She enjoys volunteering at Mott’s Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor. Abeba was a Peer Advisor for the Health Science Scholar Program. During that time, one of her favorite experiences was participating in the Minortiy Medical Education Program (MMEP) at the University of Washington, Seattle. Abeba will be attending the University of Michigan, Medical School in Fall 2005. Abeba would like us to know that she is from Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Christen Flack-May 2005, CSP Graduate.
Christen will earn a Bachelor of Science in Biopsychology and Cognitive Science with Honors. During her undergraduate career she did four years of research in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She was involved in the Black Pre-medical Association and the Multi-Ethnic Psychological Association. Christen also served as a mentor at West Middle School. She is a German language and culture enthusiast. Her biggest support through college was her four sisters: Courtney, Cathryn, Catelyn and Carey. After graduation Christen might go directly to medical school or take a year off to travel. Christen has decided that she will attend the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine.
Nicole Prince- May 2005, CSP Graduate.
Nicole will earn a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Spanish. Nicole is a resident advisor in Baits House. She is a research assistant in the psychology department and a first-year biomedical fellow in the pediatric endocrinology laboratory through UROP. Nicole is a volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital in Ypsilanti and served as President of the Black Pre-medical Association during the 2003-2004 academic year. She is currently applying to medical schools. After she graduates she plans on participating in a research program at Wayne State University, School of Medicine for the summer.
