MELICET-GCVR

The Michigan English Language Institute College English Test-Grammar, Cloze, Vocabulary, Reading (MELICET-GCVR) is a 100-item, multiple-choice test of grammar items in a conversational format, cloze items in a paragraph format, vocabulary items requiring selection of a synonym or completion of a sentence, and reading comprehension items.

The MELICET-GCVR is a retired form of one section of the Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB), which is used to assess the English language proficiency of students who are applying to universities or colleges where the language of instruction is English, and to assess the general English language proficiency of professionals who will need to use English in their work.

The test is inappropriate for those with an elementary to low-intermediate knowledge of English and for those without a high school education.

  • Scoring is by punched stencil.
  • Purchasers may use their own scannable answer sheets.
  • Raw scores should be converted to scaled scores by using the equation table found in the MELICET User's Manual.
  • Time: 75 minutes
