U-M Biological Station Advisory Committee

The UMBS Advisory Committee is a non-governing body made up of station alumni and friends.  It works with the Director to increase the station's visibility and improve its financial sustainability.

The current UMBS Advisory Committee members are:

Thomas Borders, U-M alumnus (MA); co-founder, Borders Book Shop; President, Midtown Group

David Cole, U-M alumnus (BSME, MSME, PhD ME); founder and chair, Center for Automotive Research

Hal Davis, UMBS alumnus and former TA; U-M alumnus (BA, MBA); founder, BlueGill Technologies

David Gates, UMBS past director, former instructor, alumnus and "camp kid;" U-M alumnus (BS, MS, PhD)

Joel Heinen, UMBS former instructor, researcher and TA, and alumnus; Professor of Earth and Environment, Florida International University

Mark Paddock, UMBS past Associate Director

Doug Schrank, U-M alumnus (BS, MBA); retired from a career in business and finance

Nancy Schrank, U-M alumna (BA); homemaker and community volunteer

Marilynn Smith, UMBS mini-course instructor, former researcher and alumna; retired biology teacher and mycologist

Marty Stockard, UMBS former Dean of Women and "camp kid;" U-M alumna (BA)
