- Detailed Information: Cornel Taranu is a composer, a conductor, and a professor of composition at the Gheorghe Dima Academy of Music in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. A member of the Romanian Academy, and a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts des Lettres, his compositions for orchestral, chamber and vocal works have been performed throughout Europe.
This lecture is offered as part of the American Romanian Music Festival organized by DSO violinist Marian Tanau and cosponsored by ArtServe Michigan and UM’s CREES, Institute for the Humanities, and School of Music.
