About Carson Maynard Carson joined the ELI in June 2003, after completing a B.A. in linguistics from Duke University and an MA in linguistics from the University of Michigan. He has been a lecturer in pronunciation, speaking, writing, and reading courses during the regular term and in intensive programs throughout the year; worked as a pronunciation tutor with individuals and small groups; spent a year as a researcher for the MICASE project; and has been involved with the administrative side of the ELI in the GSI programs and in the psycholinguistics lab. Hailing from North Carolina, he often longs for fried okra and sweet iced tea.
