Spotlight on "Student Success 2002" - April 2002

Kerone Anderson-CSP 2002 Graduate,
She served as a Summer Bridge Peer Advisor for the summer 2000 and 2001 classes. Kerone will be graduating with a B.A. in Organizational Studies--a former Individual Concentration Program. She has been accepted to the Boston University School of Social Work Master’s program.

Byrant Barbour-CSP 2002 Graduate,
He served as one of our CSP pre-med peer advisors 2001-2002. Bryant is an active member of the Student National Medcial Association, the Black Pre-med Association, & H.E.A.D.S. among other student organizations. Bryant will be graduating with a B.S. in Psychology in April and plans to begin a Public Health Master’s Program in the fall. After which he plans to attend medical school.

Jeffrey Grant-CSP 2002 Graduate,
He will receive a B.A. in Political Science. Jeffrey served as a Bridge Peer Advisor and a course assistant for English in Summer 2001. He plans to attend Tulane Law School in New Orleans, Louisiana this fall.

Danielle Harbison-CSP 2002 Graduate,
She will receive a BBA--Bachelor’s of Business Administration. She has served as our pre-business peer adivsor for 2001-2002. Danielle will be working in Chicago for The Boston Consulting Group.

Naomi Hutchinson- CSP 2002 Graduate,
She will receive a B.S. in Kinesiology-Movement Science. Naomi served as the CSP Mentorship Assistant for 2001-2002. She will be attending the University of Washington, St. Louis, Ph.D. program in Physical Therapy.

Elishae Johnson- CSP 2002 Graduate,
She will receive a B.A. in Communication Studies. Elishae has served as a CSP mentor and work-study student in 2001-2002. She is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and the Gospel Chorale. She plans to attend law school with an interest in corporate law.

Shandell Magee - CSP 2002 Graduate,
She will receive a B.A. in English. Shandell has been accepted into the University of Michigan Law School. She has served as the Vice-President of the Black Undergraduate Law Association (BULA).

Brooke Spencer-CSP 2002 Graduate,
She served as one of our CSP pre-med peer advisors 2001-2002. Brooke is an active member of Student National Medical Association, and a member of the National Organization of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers. Brooke will be graduating in April with a B.S. in Chemistry and starting medical school in the fall. Brooke has been accepted to Meharry Medical College.

Alumni Corner

Lanier Convington- CSP 1990 Graduate,
He attended Law School for a year, then decided to pursue a career in business. Lanier joined a fast-track program at Domino’s Pizza Inc. In 1995 he moved to Johannesburg, South Africa to establish Domino’s. In 1998 he left Domino’s to pursue other business ventures. In 2000, Lanier co-founded Africa Business Direct, an African focussed trade and investment facilitation firm. Business resource portal: www.africabusinessdirect.com

Nicole Strawder - CSP 2001 Graduate,
Nicole has recently been accepted to the University of Nebraska as a Graduate Opportunity Summer Research Recipient. She earned a B.S. in Zoological Anthropology. Nicole will receive a $5,000.00 stipend for tuition and related expences. She plans to attend veterinary school.
