About Julia
Salehzadeh
Julia has worked at the ELI since 1991. Prior to her present position as lecturer she received her MA in applied linguistics at the University of Wisconsin, taught English in Japan and served as the study abroad advisor and ESL instructor at the University of Nevada, Reno. At the ELI she has taught and coordinated for several EAP programs, including the EAP component of the intensive summer program. In addition, she coordinated development of a video listening assessment used for placement at the ELI. Her areas of particular interest are teaching lecture listening and materials development including video-based Internet, CD-ROM, and DVD materials and assessment of listening comprehension in academic contexts. Recent publications: "Challenges and issues in developing an EAP video listening placement assessment: a view from one program" (English for Specific Purposes, 2001).
