The faculty and graduate students at Michigan have a deep and abiding concern for poetry: its writing, study, and theories. Many of our faculty and students are pursuing different kinds of writing, both in academic and nonacademic contexts, bringing the idea of the poetic to conceptions of prose-writing and to creative expression in the classroom, including Catherine Brown, Santiago Colas, Anne Carson, Frieda Ekotto, Christi Anne Merrill, Yopie Prins, and Anton Shammas.
