LSA Dean's Scholarship

The LSA Scholarship program began in 1986 and is designed to reward the most outstanding first year students admitted to the College of LSA. Approximately 150 scholarships are available each year to the entire LSA admitted class, and for this reason the competition is great. Many of the LSA Scholarships are made possible through the generous gifts from donors to the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. Their commitment and confidence in the students and the college make it possible to recognize the most talented and motivated students admitted to the college each year.

For the entering class of 2009, LSA Dean's Scholarship amounts ranged from $5,000 to $20,000. The awards are renewable for up to four years provided the recipient meets or maintains all requirements outlined in their Scholarship Response Form.

Selection: The LSA scholarship committee holistically reviews University admissions materials for candidates to determine academic merit, personal achievement, extracurricular activities, awards, community service, leadership qualities, and academic potential. LSA Dean's Scholarships are awarded by using the above criteria to compare candidates against all qualified students being considered for scholarships for that particular academic year.
