Srdjan Dizdarevic, President, Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina
- Detailed Information: Srdjan Dizdarevic graduated from the University of Sarajevo’s Faculty of Philosophy in 1976 and initially held editorial positions with the publisher Oslobodjenje. From 1987 to 1991 he was first secretary of the Embassy of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in Paris. In 1995 he founded and was elected to his current position as president of the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In 1998 he was elected to two bodies anticipated in the 1995 Dayton Agreement, the Provisional Electoral Commission and the Independent Media Commission. A member of the Association of Independent Intellectuals Circle 99, Dizdarevic also serves as president of the Managing Board of the Human Rights House of Sarajevo and, since November 2004, as vice president of the International Helsinki Federation.
