Spotlight on "Student Success 2003" - December 2003
Zakiya D. Fair, CSP Student, Junior
Zakiya received a Minority International Research Training internship this past summer. She conducted research on the Effect of Iron Deficiency Anemia on the Sleep Patterns of Infants in Santiago, Chile for 3 months. After her internship she presented her research in October, at the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students in San Diego, California. Zakiya is also a resident advisor in Markley Residence Hall, the secretary for the Black Pre-Medical Association, and a participant in K-GRAMS.

Elton is currently substitute teaching in the Lansing Public School system. He has worked with all grades but mainly with middle school children. He is well-liked and is requested almost everyday. He has been enjoying his new role, and has been asked to teach everything from Japanese to gym. He plans to continue his education and obtain his Teacher Certification.
