Spotlight on "Student Success 2005" - March 2005

Mashawnta Armstrong - May 2005, CSP Graduate.
Mashawnta will earn a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and a minor in African American Studies. This past January she accomplished the successful organization of a lecture series called “Bridging the Gaps: Diversity in Architecture” in celebration of the Martin Luther King Holiday. Mashawnta will be entering the Taubman Graduate School of Architecture in the Fall 2006. She also served as a CSP Summer Bridge Peer Advisor in 2003 and 2004.

Shawn Blanchard - May 2005, CSP Graduate.
Shawn will earn a Bachelor of Art in Mathematical Economics. He plans to go on to graduate school for Mathematical Education after gaining teaching experience through teaching for a year in an urban setting. Shawn also served as a CSP Summer Bridge Program Peer Advisor in 2003 and 2004.

Riana Anderson - CSP Student.
Riana is expected to graduate in May 2006 with a Bachelor of Art in Psychology and Political Science. Riana is the Vice- President of the University of Michigan, NAACP. She has also worked as as student staff member for the past two years on the MLK Symposium. In summer 2004 she was a Student Leader for the King, Chavez, Parks(KCP) Program sponsored by the Office of Academic and MultiCultural Initiatives.

Christina Chang - May 2005, CSP Graduate,
Christina will earn a Bachelor of Art in Sociology and Political Science. She was recently acceped into the University of Michigan Law School. She will begin her studies in the Summer Program which starts in June 2005. Christina is very excited to be starting this program and also has an interest in obtaining a Social Work degree after she earns her J.D.

Alumni Corner

Michael T. Johnson-May 2002.
CSP Graduate, B.A. in English and a minor in History.
Michael is currently a student teacher for a fourth grade class at Ardis Renaissance Academy in Ypsilanti. In April 2005 he will obtain his second Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Michigan Teaching Certification from Eastern Michigan University. Michael’s wife, Joanna is also a teacher and they are the proud parents of two boys; Lorenzo who is a second grader, and Kellen who was born in December 1, 2004.
