Joachim Janecke

Professor Emeritus

Office: 2245 Randall
Email: janecke@umich.edu
Phone: 764-3467

Education: Ruperto Carola, Heidelberg.

Research Field: Nuclear Experiment and Theory

Research Focus: Properties of atomic nuclei, nuclear reactions, nuclear astrophysics

In recent years, Professor Janecke investigated collective excitations of the nuclear many-body system using charge-exchange reactions. The excitations of interest included collective spin vibrations and compression modes with implications for nucleosynthesis calculations. Accelerator experiments were performed at national accelerator facilities including the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory, and at facilities in The Netherlands and Japan. After retirement, Professor Janecke became involved in theoretical projects related to nuclear masses and binding energies.
