Do any of my transfer credits count towards my concentration?
Concentration advisors determine whether a course you have taken at another institution may count toward the concentration. They may ask to see a course description or syllabus in order to make that determination.
What is a cognate?
A cognate is a required concentration course taken in a department outside your concentration department but whose subject relates closely to your concentration.
May I use a cognate course for distribution?
No.
What if I already have junior standing and I’m unsure what to choose for my concentration?
While you may feel some pressure to decide right away, there is still usually sufficient time to make this decision carefully. We recommend that you remain in close contact with your academic advisor as your decide.
