- On Oct 23-24, Kerstin Barndt attended an international conference on "The Fall of the Wall Reconsidered" at Northwestern University where she presented a paper on "Exhibiting 1989/2009."
- Kalli Federhofer gave a panel presentation on 'Advising Models' at the LSA Advising Summit on centralized versus de-centralized models of advising.
- Geof Eley will participate in a luncheon discussion with graduate students at Emory University. Based on Eley, "The Trouble with 'Race': Migrancy, Cultural Difference, and the Remaking of Europe," from Rita Chin, Heide Fehrenbach, Geoff Eley, and Atina Grossmann (eds.), After the Nazi Racial State (Ann Arbor, 2009). He wıll also present ın a History Department Seminar: "Where are We Now with Theories of Fascism." Comment by Walter Adamson (History), followed by discussion.
- Johannes von Moltke will be participating in a 2-day workshop on the New Wave in German Cinema at the University of Missouri later this week, where he will be leading a session on Theories of Realism.
- Andrei Codrescu will meet with the Avant Garde Interest Group and others interested on Thursday, December 10 to discuss his recent book "The Posthuman Dada Guide." Please mark the date and time (12/10, 10 am to noon)! More detailed information will follow in November.
- Davıd Choberka will be inducted as an honorary member of the Golden Key international honor society in November. He was nominated by a former student of German 325 - Expressionism in German Culture and German 326 - War and Change in German Cultural History.
