About Mark
Chapman
Mark moved to the Testing and Certification Division of the ELI in March 2008. He is involved in the writing and editing of items for the UM suite of English-language proficiency tests. Prior to joining UM Mark taught English in Japan for more than 10 years. He worked as an Instructor of English for Specific Purposes with Sony and Hitachi and later taught English for Academic Purposes at Hokkaido University. During his time in Japan Mark developed his interest in language testing, publishing and presenting with the Japan Language Testing Association and writing for the Society of Testing English Proficiency. Life in Hokkaido hopefully prepared Mark for Michigan winters when he can continue to enjoy his love of skiing and snowshoeing.
