Handbook: Concentration Advisors
Honors concentration advisors are faculty members from the departments and programs that offer Honors concentrations. They can provide advice about their fields that is more knowledgeable and specialized than general advisors may be able to give. Because they approve concentration plans in their programs and departments, they should be consulted for the most up-to-date information about concentration requirements. Honors concentration advisors:
- admit students to departmental Honors concentrations
- serve as academic advisors for upperclass students enrolled in departmental Honors programs
- work with individual students to develop coherent concentration plans
- oversee the progress of all Honors students in their respective departments
- complete the Honors Concentration Release Form for graduation
Before consulting a concentration advisor for the first time, students should carefully read the program information in the LSA Bulletin. After reviewing this material, they should schedule an appointment with the Honors concentration advisor for questions about concentration requirements, admission to the program, individual academic advising, and advice about career opportunities. A list of departmental Honors concentration advisors (with office hours, phone numbers, and office addresses) is available in the Honors office.
