If you are eligible for financial aid from the University, apply right away to:
UM Office of Financial Aid.  

UMBS also offers scholarships and financial assistance for students who might not otherwise be able to attend the station.  To apply for this support, please complete the Application Part II.

UMBS Research and Scholarship Funds

Ann Arbor Woman's National Farm and Garden Association Award
Annual award to one or more graduate researchers.
Given by the Ann Arbor Woman's National Farm and Garden Association.

Howard A. Crum Student Scholarship
Scholarship support students studying at UMBS.

Douglas Lake Improvement Association Scholarship
A competitive scholarship to fully support a student who is a resident of Northern Michigan
to attend the spring or summer session.

Frank Caleb & Margaret Thompson Gates Student Endowment
Several annual awards to assist students at UMBS.

Marian P. and David M. Gates Scholarship
Award to assist out-of-state students to study at UMBS.

Henry Allan Gleason Fellowship Fund
Awards to outstanding graduate students
to enable them to pursue advanced study in the field of ecology.

Graham Institute Field Internship Grant

Joel T. Heinen Endowment Fund
Supports graduate and undergraduate students engaged in research at UMBS.

Lowe Family First Summer Student Scholarship
Award to student spending their first summer at UMBS.

Vaden and Maxine Miles Fund
Fellowship to support graduate student researchers
in the field of ornithology.

Stellanova and Chase S. Osborn Award
Annual competitive award supporting research based at
the Chase S. Osborn Preserve on Sugar Island.

James L. Plafkin Memorial Scholarship
 An annual need-based award to
a student who is studying aquatic ecology.

Returning Student Award
 Awards to returning students
who are in their second or subsequent summer at UMBS.
Funded by alumni and friends of UMBS.

Schrank Family Scholarship
One award annually alternating for
an LSA or Program in the Environment (PitE) student.

Gary & Gussie Williams Scholarship Fund
Scholarship for student who is teaching science or
pursuing a degree in science education.

CIC Traveling Scholar Program
Graduate students at Big 10 schools may take classes at UMBS for the same price as taking classes at their home university (i.e., no out-of-state tuition) through the CIC Traveling Scholar Program. Students should contact the Dean's Office of their Graduate School for more information.
