About Kathleen Murrel Prior to joining the ELI in January 2006, Kathy was program administrator for the Life Sciences & Society program for the previous five years. Since joining the University of Michigan in 1994, she has also worked for the Mental Health Research Institute in the computer and shops department and at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital for the 6 Mott pediatric nurse manager. In April 2005, she received her Master's of Liberal Studies in Interdisciplinary Technology from EMU, specializing in technology and culture as well as communication studies. When not working or taking classes, Kathy enjoys family time (including four grandchildren), arts and crafts projects, cooking, reading, and cheering for the University of Michigan football and basketball teams, as well as being a big Detroit Tigers fan. At the ELI, Kathy is the student services coordinator, the freelance item writer coordinator, and also performs general administrative work.
