Research interests:  Settlement archaeology, trading networks, West Africa, Yoruba studies, public archaeology, museum studies

Andrew is interested in the economic processes that shaped West Africa over the past millennium. His dissertation research is on the economic and political history of the Yoruba kingdom of Shabe, in the Republic of Benin. Andrew is also interested in how archaeology can be more relevant to the local and descendant communities affected by archaeological research, and how these communities can become more involved in creating long-term research projects.
