The University of Michigan Museum of Anthropology has been publishing scholarly monographs in archaeology and occasionally other branches of anthropology for over fifty years. We usually publish two or three titles a year. For more information about our scope and mission as a publisher, see Writer's Corner.
We currently have two active print series: Anthropological Papers and Memoirs. Within our Memoirs series are two subseries: Prehistory and Human Ecology of the Valley of Oaxaca (Kent Flannery and Joyce Marcus, editors) and Studies in Latin American Ethnohistory and Archaeology (Joyce Marcus, editor). We also have an Electronic Series of CD-ROMs, Reprints of our older out-of-print Anthropological Papers, Technical Reports, and more. All of our available in-print titles can by found by following the "New and In Print" link above. The other link, "All UMMA Titles, Past and Present," is a list of everything we've ever published.
If you are looking for one of our publications and cannot find it on either of the above links, please contact us and we will help you track it down. Our books have occasionally been listed incorrectly in such databases as Books In Print due to confusion over the various series and subseries titles. If we can't identify what you're looking for, it's possible you're looking for a title published by the University of Michigan Press or the Department of Anthropology, or it's an unpublished document archived at the Museum. We'll do our best to help you find what you want and put you in touch with the proper people.
