Prehistoric Farmers and Bison Hunters in the Pecos Valley, Southeastern New Mexico - June 1 - July 15, 2009

The University of Michigan's Department of Anthropology and Museum of Anthropology are pleased to offer the 6th Summer Training Course in Archaeology (Anthrarc 487) in the Pecos River valley near the city of Roswell in southeastern New Mexico. This summer's excavations will be the third field season at Bloom Mound, a late prehistoric pueblo village dating to the 14th- and 15th-century. Bloom is a fascinating and enigmatic frontier community occupied by semi-nomadic farmers and bison hunters on the easternmost periphery of the American Southwest.
