The Museum of Anthropology accepts volunteers from both University students and the general public. Most volunteer positions are within the Collections Department, although opportunities may be available to work with graduate students on their research projects. Collections Department projects include cataloging of incoming collections, data entry, inventory of collections, rehousing of objects, and other similar activities.
Volunteers are expected to work a minimum of 4 hours a week, in blocks of at least 2 hours at a time. Some work may be done in groups; however, volunteers may also be required to work on their own. The Museum is open from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. No weekend hours are available.
If you think you would be interested in volunteering or would like to learn more about current projects at the Museum, please email Karen O'Brien at klobrien@umich.edu or fill in the Volunteer Application and mail it back to the Museum.
