Henry Wright a Winner!

Congratulations to Henry Wright, winner of the 2008 Gold Medal for Distinguished Archaeological Achievement from the Archaeological Institute of America.

This is the AIA’s highest honor and “is made annually in recognition of a scholar who has made distinguished contributions to archaeology through his or her fieldwork, publications, and/or teaching.” In Henry’s case, “and” is definitely the operative word.

Henry joins such luminaries as Patty Jo Watson, Robert McC Adams, and Robert Braidwood among the anthropological archaeologists who have received this award.  A symposium will be held in Henry’s honor at the AIA’s annual meeting in Philadelphia next January.
